2030 WCI Emissions and Price Forecast | Analyst Note | May 2021
Monday, 24th May 2021

This Analyst note is an update to the note released in January 2021 (Read report).

We have modeled 4 scenarios in this note till 2030 and 5 scenarios till 2050:

  1. Present Trajectory Scenario
  2. Off-the Rails (high emissions) Scenario
  3. Meeting Climate Goals Scenario
  4. Accelerated Climate Action Scenario
  5. Delayed Climate Goals Scenario

The scenarios are built around potential linkages between different key variables that are detailed in Section 3. The scenarios consider the interplay between policies, technologies, economic progress and other carbon interventions in California and Quebec.

In this note, we have also extended the scenarios till 2050 and made assumptions on what the Cap-and-Trade model could look like. That is captured in the section on Crystal Ball Outlook
